Listed below is more in depth information about our turnstile] equipment. If you have any questions at all, we would be only too pleased to speak to you, so give us a call to help you and your business solve security problems and improve your safety, efficiency and profitability.
Auto Mate Systems Ltd manufacture all full height turnstiles to the highest standards using quality components and materials giving unrivalled robustness and proven reliability that requires very little on going maintenance for years to come.
When high levels of pedestrian access control and/or reporting for fire regulations are required, then Auto Mate Systems Ltd can provide a range of security turnstiles and software controlled card access systems which allow improved levels of control and security of access. This turnstile system enables individual identification and anti pass-back facilities, so if some one enters the site, they cannot pass the card passed through the turnstile to allow some-one else to enter. Thereby preventing inaccurate reporting should an incident occur.
This is ideal in unmanned locations as security turnstiles provide maximum security together with a safe and secure image, and releases security staff for other duties.
We produce a complete range of full height turnstiles and DDA compliant pedestrian gates. The different types and materials used in the construction range from mild steel galvanised for fence line turnstiles, to mild steel powder coated for internal turnstiles, or a combination of both, and including the fully polished stainless steel turnstile. Full height turnstiles come in various sizes and finishes; options include, power coated, primed and painted, galvanised or stainless steel.

High Security Turnstiles
High security turnstiles are full height, with a 90 degree, four arm rotor, which minimises space for pedestrians to pass through. This prevents two people squeezing into the space and entering together. The turnstile is also fitted with an anti-climb canopy and while it can be bi-directional, it normally fails in the locked position, so that in the event of power failure, the mechanism may be manually released with a key. A high security turnstile would probably be fitted with a more secure access control system such as biometrics.
Fence Line Turnstile
This turnstile is fitted with a 3 arm, 120 degree rotor, which allows pedestrians a little more space to carry a bag or laptop through the turnstile. The mechanism whilst bi directional, can be set up for fail free or fail locked with key override to lock or release in the event of power failure. An anti-climb canopy can be fitted as an option. The turnstile comes with mounting plates for access control card readers or intercoms. The fence line turnstile finish is galvanised as standard, but can be powder coated to your choice of colour
Dual Lane, Full Height Turnstile
Dual lane turnstiles can be made up from three arm rotors or four arm high security turnstiles. The footprint of a dual is slightly less than two single turnstiles, as the two rotors interlock in the centre. The dual full-height turnstiles have the same facility as the single full-height turnstile, and can be fitted with anti-climb canopies and card reader mounting plates.
Tripod turnstiles are ideal where aesthetics are required. These offer security and pedestrian monitoring to an area where restrictions are required to prevent unauthorised access, whilst still maintaining an open plan feel. For example, such areas may be council offices, business reception areas, gyms, banks and financial institutions etc. They also work well with access control software for reporting for fire or time and attendance. The tripod turnstiles come in various materials and designs. The most popular is a polished stainless steel turnstile, however, they can be mild steel and powder coated, or the tripod turnstile housing can be clad in timber to give a warmer furniture style appearance. Some of the optional features are drop down arm on fire alarm, or anti jump over alarm. This is where a beam would detect a person who contravened the system and would then set of a sounder system.
Half Height Turnstiles
Half height turnstiles have mostly been replaced by tripod turnstiles, even at sports stadiums. However, Auto Mate systems Ltd can still provide the half height turnstile with three paddles and 120 degree rotation. The half height turnstile has the same footprint as the full height turnstile but is ideal for entrance to foot ball grounds or fairs where a count is required and a fee needs to be taken.
Coin Operated Turnstiles
Both tripod turnstiles and full height turnstiles can be supplied with Auto Mate systems pay on entry system where a a pre set amount is needed before entry is allowed. This could be from twenty pence upwards and when the correct amount has been totalled it activates the coin operated turnstile allowing access. The most popular places for this equipment is public toilets in shopping malls and Train and Bus stations. Where the cost of providing a service needs to be recovered.
DDA Pedestrian Gates
Turnstiles are not suitable for access by wheel chair users. Where conformity to the Discrimination Disability Act, a pedestrian gate can be supplied by Auto Mate Systems Ltd. This is a fully automatic, full height gate and can be operated from a card access system, radio fob, or a disabled person’s large button. This will depend upon the level of security required. The gate can also be fitted with an intercom or video camera so that the gate can be activated remotely if required. The gate is also useful if the area has to be evacuated when the fire alarm is activated as the DDA Gate can be linked to the fire alarm system which will open automatically or have a local break glass to activate it.
DDA Compliant Glass Swing Gates
The glass waist height swing gate supplied by Auto Mate Systems Ltd, is fully DDA compliant and can be operated by either a push button from reception or a card access system. The gate has a stainless steel column and is fitted with toughened safety glass. The glass gate will rotate through 180 degrees so it may be activated to open away from the person using the gate. It also has a break out facility so that in an emergency the gate can be pushed open and it will stay open until re-activated when it will automatically re-set itself. The glass gate is fitted with a break out alarm so if it is pushed open an alarm sounds.
This glass gate is of a design that will enhance any prestigious building or reception area.
Turnstiles fitted with biometric readers offer speedy and secure access for sites that have numerous users and where the turnover of staff for the issue of cards or fobs is so great it becomes a problem. With biometrics each individuals palm is read which is a unique identifying feature, along with that persons individual pin code giving security of the highest level. Preventing passing cards or fobs back through the turnstile for some one else to use. Linked to access control software on a PC each individual can be logged on and off site and fire reports or parole can be generated from the information. Individuals can be monitored and added or deleted when ever required.
The Biometric Turnstiles are used on Building sites or large industrial plants and places where an un-manned higher security level is required.

Listed below is more in depth information on our traffic light and traffic management systems and equipment, including car park traffic light systems, factory traffic light systems, pedestrian crossings and wig wag traffic lights. If you have any questions at all we would be only too pleased to help so give us a call we are here to help you and your business solve problems, conform to new health and safety initiatives, improve your safety and efficiency, and become more profitable.
As well as being able to supply you individual traffic light components, such as traffic light heads, posts, vehicle movement detectors or traffic light controllers, we can supply other vehicle road signs such as radar speed signs, wig wag flashing lights as seen at level crossings, and school patrol warning lights. As an automation company we can integrate traffic systems to your security systems with ease and write a unique software programme to interface the two if required. The same applies in reverse if you have a security or access control system that needs to activate a traffic light system we have the technology to interface the two.
Car Park Traffic Light Systems
Auto Mate Systems Ltd can design and install a simple traffic management system to control entry onto car park ramps in both multi storey or underground car parks, with traffic flow priority given to the customers requirement, often dictated by planning consent.
Auto Mate Systems has provided many traffic light systems which we have designed to accommodate the planning consent of inner city buildings and car parks. The systems can be timed with traffic flow priorities that change at various times of the day or they can utilise vehicle detection systems, such as induction loops
To avoid the pit falls of some detection equipment, it is advisable to contact our traffic light systems designers at the earliest opportunity. As a gate automation company we can also interface the traffic lights with gates, barriers, roller shutters etc, keeping the car park secure and safe.
Factory Safety Traffic Management Systems
Auto Mate Systems Ltd has designed many different factory safety systems where vehicles interface with pedestrians or with other larger vehicles for example:
Large HGV’s on a busy site gaining access to individual loading bays (combined with large VMS signs to direct certain HGV’s to specific loading bays).
Fork lift crossing systems: Where forklift trucks operate near pedestrian walkways, through a site or leaving a building into a busy road. We can design a system that perfectly fits your needs.
Multiple traffic light systems linking to one central security house. The system was linked to automatic gates and controlled via touch screen.
Pedestrian crossings or zebra crossings on main roads within the site.
These systems can be designed to your specific needs with the software for the traffic light controller purposely written with your site in mind, giving you the added benefits of being able to control and alter any timings within the system. The control methods for site vehicles can be varied from a push button or induction loop in the road, to a vehicle mounted radio transmitter. For more information on the systems we offer, or to arrange a site visit, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Auto Mate Systems Ltd can also install pedestrian crossings such as the simple Belisha Beacon or Zebra crossing equipment, complete with road markings if necessary. We have also installed these type of systems for clients who have private highways most commonly, factories, industrial estates and NHS hospital trusts. Their systems have include Pelican Crossings with the traffic lights being operated by push and wait buttons. Red man standing and green man walking functions are also available with options of sounders as well as other derivatives such as the Puffin Crossing, Toucan Crossing and Pegasus Crossing (for use with horse riders, as seen below).
The Puffin Crossing (Pedestrian User-Friendly Intelligent crossings) differ from Pelican Crossings in that there is no flashing green figure phase. On Puffin Crossings the red and green figures are above the control box on your side of the road. You press the button and wait for the green figure to show.
Wig Wag lights
Wig Wag lights are most commonly used at level crossings and fire/ambulance stations to stop traffic to enable emergency vehicles to exit the station. Wig Wag lights are also used on bridges or tunnels. They are a very useful sign, especially in factories where the clutter of other signs may mean a red traffic light goes unnoticed. There may be a need to stop all traffic whilst a vehicle needs to emerge or reverse out of a blind spot of a factory workshop door, into a main carriage way. The driver of the vehicle can carry a radio remote control to switch on the light when he is ready to reverse and switch it off once he is in the carriage way and moving off safely.
One recent application was to facilitate and secure a long wheel based, rail car carrying vehicle which had to reverse into the main road several times a day. The solution was to put a wig-wag traffic light to stop the traffic. This was activated by remote control and when the lorry was out in the road the driver could turn the light off and drive away saving time and money because there was no need to get some-one to guide them in the reversing manoeuvre.
Radar Speed Signs

Warning Flashing Amber Lights
Twin amber flashing lights are usually a warning sign for a school crossing patrol or where people are working in or close to a roadway. They are also used on automatic machinery such as moving gates or barriers and they can also be used with sounders, so that when a piece of automatic equipment requires attention it can be interfaced with other warning systems, for example, a boiler may be over pressure or a fuel or chemical process is leaking and a warning needs to kick in automatically.

Listed below is more in depth information about our automatic rising bollards systems and equipment. If you have any questions at all, we would be only too pleased to speak to you, so give us a call to help you and your business solve security problems and improve your safety, efficiency and profitability.
Rising bollards are often installed to improve the security of a loading bay, where a standard roller shutter offers very little resistance to ram-raids, in this application, they can be controlled by a standard button controller or interfaced with the roller shutter to automatically lower whilst the roller shutter is opening. In the same way they can also be added to an automatic barrier installation where the bollards lower and the barrier lifts after they have lowered when it is safe to proceed.Automatic rising bollards can be installed in place of an automatic barrier to restrict vehicle entry to a site, and can be controlled by any type of access control system, including swipe or proximity cards, audio intercom, radio transmitters, GSM/mobile phone, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) or a simple button controller.
Rising bollards are generally installed complete with induction loops for vehicle safety and red/green traffic lights to give an indication when it is safe for a vehicle to proceed.
A further standard safety feature of our hydraulic bollards, is an inbuilt pressure sensor. If the rising bollard senses an obstruction whilst it is lifting, the pressure sensor will cause the bollard to stop and reverse to the fully down position.
Automatic bollards can be supplied in a range of finishes, including polyester powder coating to any RAL colour or stainless steel, to ensure they match your design and their surroundings. They come with inbuilt amber flashing lights to ensure they are highly visible, even in total darkness.
The diameter and rise height of automatic bollards also varies to suit the site requirements or desired level of security.
We offer an anti terror bollard which is tested to the Pass 68 rated and the US K12 standard, It has a diameter of 275mm, and rises to a height of 900mm above ground level. As an optional extra, a hydraulic booster pack can be fitted to the bollards which will allow them to be fully raised in 0.8 seconds, especially relevant in the event of an emergency. This would also be very useful to secure the site quickly if there is an imminent threat.
Automatic bollards are available to operate as fail safe or fail secure. When there is a power failure a fail safe bollard will automatically lower, whereas a fail secure bollard will remain in the upright position, which may be lowered by a key if required. An automatic bollard installation can also be connected to a fire alarm system, so that all or some of the bollards will automatically lower under fire alarm conditions.
Another accessory that may be added to the installation, is a fire drop key. This is a switch which is usually installed at high level and can be used to lower the bollards by the emergency services. Most fire engines carry this key as standard, but we would supply one which could be passed on to the relevant fire officer.
We have a number of alternative car park barrier entry systems which may also be of interest.
